Mark Light

Mark is an accomplished leader in sailing who, as Clipper Race Director, is responsible for developing and overseeing the year-long 40,000 nautical mile race across six continents whilst supporting the Clipper Race Management Board.

A highly skilled skipper in his own right, Mark has over 100,000nm in his log book. Following his successful completion of the Clipper Race circuit as Skipper of the Derry~Londonderry~Doire team entry during the 2011-12 edition, Mark spent four years as Deputy Clipper Race Director before taking on the role of Race Director in 2016 – and has been in charge of the most unique ocean race in the world ever since.
